THE STUMBO SHIRT RIDES AGAIN!
Created in 1986 by Savage Pencil and Chris ‘Eyeball’ Long (two of the founding members of underground comix/art collective Battle Of The Eyes), this re-imagining of the famous kiddie comics cartoon character was inspired by the industrial music duo of Jim Thirlwell and Roli Mossiman’s Wiseblood song “Stumbo” from their 12” 45 of the same name. The illustration first appeared in the comix anthology Corpsemeat 2 and a T-shirt was produced at the time which quickly sold out – hence its current “collector’s item” status.
To celebrate the publication of Dummy Zine 2, BOTE are collaborating with editor John Kelly and San Francisco-based print company About Being Seen to produce a revised second edition of their Stumbo design, strictly limited to 100 shirts.
